Around our Home.

  • A rearranged living room with our sectional separated for more living space.
  • Medium turquoise mixing bowl + sugar cookie dough.
  • Glass and linen napkins in our hutch, an antique ice box acting as a side table next to our sectional.
  • Spring decor pulled out of storage (Spring starts March 20th!).
  • Sugar cookies cooling, complete with sprinkles.
  • Our kitty cat Jack, resting on our family room sofa.
  • A photo of the hubs's dad's little league team - the hubs's grandpa is also in the pic; he was the coach.  This will be featured in a larger size in Kingston's bedroom soon.

What an odd week this was.  I've been around our home more than usual due to sickness, so I had to make the best of it.  With lots of Pinterest-ing under my belt these past few days, I have more ideas than ever for this little home of ours.  Yesterday afternoon I was pretty much back to normal, which helped spur the furniture rearranging project... at least downstairs.

And I am starting to be pretty pumped to transition our little from crib to bed here soon and pick out a set of bunk beds for Kingston's room.  I think I may have found the matching quilt to Kingston's for Cole... for when the boys share a room -- so excited!  Kingston's quilt was purchased from Pottery Barn a few years ago and has since been discontinued... so trying to match it has been a little bit of a chore.  Thanks to eBay, I think my problem may soon be resolved (more to come on this later).

As much as a I love our home, I am happy to say the boys and I will be able to get out of it for a little bit today and maybe tomorrow - Kingston is requesting a trip to the library and park today, the hubs has softball tomorrow.  Enjoy the weekend, friends!

PB + Chocolate Chip Cookies

Yep.  These happened over the weekend.  And they were fabulous.

There is just something about gloomy, Fall-like weather that makes me want to bake up a storm.

Not gonna lie - these were cheater cookies (i.e. from a box, add butter and water... and gold sprinkles).  But sometimes you just have to roll like that.

I'm wishing I would've made double the batch... then maybe we would still have some in our kitchen.  Maybe. Not.

Sickly Sweet.

Okay, isn't it Spring?  Shouldn't nicer weather be coming our way... and maybe, just maybe, fewer-to-no more colds?  It seems like my family was just on the mend, then BAM.  Here we are in sick-town again, myself included.  So, if you've been wondering where I've been and why my blog has been pretty stagnate the past few days week or so... you now know why.

In other news - have you tried chocolate chip cookies with sprinkles on top?  Thanks for the suggestion, Kingston.

The cookie mishap.

So, it's Friday again friends.  Even better... it's a Friday of a four-day weekend for me.  No big plans for the long weekend, but I am so thrilled to spend some time at home relaxing, helping my boys heal (both Kingston and Cole have colds they cannot seem to kick), and maybe working on a few house projects.

To start of the weekend right, I thought I would bake a few semi-healthy cookies for my family... you know, ones where you substitute out the butter for applesauce and include oats?  Yum.

It was going so well.  Until I decided to use my tablespoon ceramic measuring spoon to help ball the dough on the cookie sheet.  On my seventh ball, the handle snapped off of the spoon in the dough.  Not good friends, not good at all.  Not good even one bit.  Because although the break was a pretty clean one, there were still two chunks that were unaccounted for... in the dough... with oats... and white chocolate chips.  Eh.

And that is why we only had six homemade cookies on this lovely Friday.  Which are now down to three, thanks to Kingston and I (we had to have ourselves a little taste test).  Oh well... I said I wanted to make a few healthy cookies, right?  Right.
