Cake pops can do no wrong.

Last Saturday was my sister's birthday.  So you know that called for some sort of yummy cake dessert, right?

Oh yeah.

So I opted to try my hand at the ever-popular cake pops (see HERE).  Pretty painless, especially since I chose to stick with the basics for my first time.  No crazy shapes or designs... and I may have even used, dare I say it, a cake mix and can of frosting instead of going the homemade route.
I also made a few cake balls...
Strawberry cake mixed with strawberry mist frosting, coated in vanilla candy melt.  And Kingston's favorite - topped with sprinkles.  Oh my.
Run, don't walk, to your kitchen and give these bad boys a whirl.  I think I'll be baking a second batch this weekend for our little's first birthday party.  Sure there will be cake, but who wouldn't love to take a few of these babies home for later.  Sign me up.

High Steppin' + Wobbly Walking

That is one proud little nearly-one-year-old, friends.

Our boy Cole is officially a toddlin' baby-toddler/toddler (when does a baby officially become a toddler, at a year?).  His little walk kills me... booty slightly out, arms up in the air.  Hey, anything to get the perfect balance... am I right?  While he hasn't quite given up crawling yet, he sure is loving his freedom when walking.  It sure makes it that much easier to get into brothers things, like that blue pinwheel.

And those dimples... couldn't you just eat him up!?

His favorite color is: Blue.
My Dad's job is: To teach and some kids throw a pie at him.
He loves to eat: Macaroni.
He is really good at: Numbers.
My Dad loves when: I play with him.
My Dad always says: "Go" words.
My favorite thing about my Dad is: When we play together.
--------------------------------------------------
We celebrated the hubs today, showing our love and appreciation for him and everything he does for us.  Our family is pretty lucky - he just so happens to be the best daddy to our boys and I am so thankful he is my partner-in-crime.

I picked out his new hat, gave him a few of his favorite goodies, and let him sleep through the night/sleep in this morning.  Kingston picked out a trophy ("Best Dad") and painted a picture/card for him, which contained the words above.  And Cole made sure to get a few wrestles in.

We also made sure to share some love with our dads and Kingston found the most perfect superhero cards for each of his papas.  What a wonderful day.

DIY: Square Felt Garlands

I have been eyeballing several felt garlands for awhile and almost bought one while shopping the other day... then thought, why not make my own?  A few sheets of felt in the colors of my choice ($0.34 per 8.5 x 11 sheet, people!!), scissors, fabric cutter, thread, and my sewing machine later, and I am now the proud owner of two square felt garlands for my little's 1st birthday party in two weeks.  Hooray!
Super easy... you should try it!  I only used 5 sheets of felt for my two garlands.  With three colors, the navy/aqua/lime green garland is approximately 18 feet in length (cost to make: $1.02).  The two-color gold/orange garland is approximately 12 feet in length (cost to make: $0.68).  Not too large, I cut my squares to about 1.5 x 1.5 inches each.  Probably my favorite part is the idea that I can reuse both garlands for future birthday parties or to jazz up my little's bedroom.

This marks my first craft project for Cole's 1st birthday decorations.  I'll be sharing one, maybe two, more in the next two weeks.  Happy Friday, friends!

We got a little swim in.

After all the local festivities last Saturday, we all wound up at my in-law's home... and in the pool.  Cole even found himself floating around the blue waters.
I think it is pretty safe to say that we have another water baby on our hands.

Oh, and all photos are credit to the hubs... I was in the pool pretty much all afternoon.  It was a great day.

2013 Junior Jog

This weekend Kingston and his cousins Brooklyn and Tatyana ran their 3rd annual Junior Jog, part of the Mason County Forest Festival.  They were pretty pumped up for the race and could not wait to get their medals.

But, for the 2nd year in a row, Kingston decided to cry/scream the entire race.  Don't believe me?  Scroll back up to the picture of the hubs and him running in the race.  That's a sad/angry face, people.  After they crossed the finish line, the hubs talked to Kingston about the crying.  Apparently Kingston was a little overwhelmed by all of the kiddos racing.  Whoops - I guess we should have gotten to the race earlier than one minute prior to race time (mom/dad fail).

In the end, all was fine and everybody was happy... especially once the ring pops came out of my purse (candy cures all).
